The Revelation Of Love

And though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory.
- I PETER 1:8

Those in ministry would bring to our attention many revelations, such as the revelations of our flesh, our sin, our failure at being good parents, our attitudes, and our lies. However, the most important revelation, greater than all of these put together, is of how much you really love Jesus. Why are you miserable when dabbling in the flesh, walking in sin, being offended, pursuing material gain, and having friendship with the world? I will tell you! It is because you love Christ! In the deepest part of your being, you are in love with Him. Manifestations of sin, Satan, the world, and the flesh will always attempt to keep you from this revelation, and though you find no satisfaction in them, they whisper “more” at all times. If you can admit that you truly love Him, can go nowhere else and want nothing else, then all those things of the flesh must flee. I want to be clear: We do not lay aside the flesh so we can love Jesus more deeply; we lay it aside because we do love Him. Our misery with the flesh is proof of our love for Him alone, and nothing else. This takes revelation. He will permit the flesh to take you to the bottom to prove it to you. Have you had enough? You love Him. Shout it, “I love Him, I love nothing else, nothing else will ever satisfy, and all of life has been proving it to me!” Amen!
