I was reading an old devotional book; in it the author maintained he had found exactly what I have found, that there are two ways of entering into Christ. One is through an explosion with lots of fireworks that was preceded by depression, anxiety, and/or a severe breaking. The other involves coming into Christ slowly, methodically, through understanding that made the journey from head to heart over a period of time. It was noted that those who come to Christ slowly can rarely tell the exact day and hour they gave up on themselves and accepted Christ; however, their lives prove just such a thing has occurred.
Of these two methods of coming into Christ, the
explosion is most often considered normal and desirable,
so those who gradually grew into faith are left wondering if they really do know Christ as well as others. The most interesting note in the devotion was that in a survey, 60% of believers came to Christ the slower way while 40% came by way of the explosion. There is nothing wrong with either entrance, the important point being that a person did enter into life in Christ. Those who have never had the explosion need not waste time waiting for one, when they are in the majority and can simply press on in Him!
